Trial and Error
Today was my first time making bagels! The first step was to mix all of the ingredients together. The dough is as hard as a rock because bagel dough is naturally dry, so you definitely need to use an electric mixer. However, I accidentally forgot to put the dough into a mixer and I was trying to mix the dough with a spatula. Oops! Additionally, next time I am going to make sure the ambient temperature in my home is consistent—my kitchen was too cold so the dough did not rise fully. This made it incredibly difficult to shape into little balls. That said, this was a fun process and the bagels are looking and smelling good. My next batch will be even better.
